Team YU and I joined forces in my kitchen and tackled the creation and tasting of 23 incredible recipes for the YumUniverse 1st Birthday Recipe Contest. Coming to a decision about which 5 would be finalists was no easy task. It was next to impossible, really. There was plenty of friendly and playful discussion about what recipes were considered “party appropriate,” what had a good “mouthfeel” and what recipes triggered happy “memories of childhood.” There were a few recipes that judges did not agree upon—and ultimately majority ruled—but we all feel confident that you’ll be excited about the Top 5.
From this point forward, YU (yes, you) will decide who wins the Excalibur dehydrator, who wins a $50 Amazon gift certificate and who wins a YU eGuide!

Thank you to all the entrants for their time, delicious recipes, photo styling and creativity. You made this decision very difficult for us. Big thanks to the judges Kathy Beymer, Rea Frey Holguin, Maya Henderson, Mark Beier and Val Bolon for their time and thorough consideration of all the recipes (we had fun didn’t we?).
There were so many knockout entries and YU will be sharing them too, so stay tuned. Every single one was worthy of a YumUniverse Celebration, you all truly exceeded my expectations and I thank you again for helping us celebrate our first 365 days in delicious fashion!
